My favourite Mac apps

Here are some Mac apps that I think are underrated (or at least, under appreciated):

  • Cleanshot - a great screenshotting tool

  • Raycast - this is a "spotlight replacement" the two features I use all the time are access to AI from a keyboard stroke (activate Raycast → press tab → talk to an LLM) and the ability to launch apps

  • Soulver - this is a calculator on steroids. It's like a blend of a calculator and a spreadsheet. It's really useful when you want to do complex arithmetic with variables and such

  • BBedit - an incredibly comprehensive text editor.

Generally, I really struggle to use productivity apps — it's just hard to get in the habit of using them, but these have really stuck with me!
